WHY SHE? WHY NOT HE/THEY/EVERYONE SURVIVE(S)?
Based on my own personal experience, I wanted to create a safe resourceful place for women and girls who might need help or support. Basically, I wanted to create something that might have been useful for me 20 years ago.
Yes, men are abused, and no I am not discounting or devaluing that or the fact that men also need support. This is why I have included many resources which are not gender-specific. I’ve also included a section explicitly for men who are looking for help, as there are many good support entities which focus on males. Sometimes I get angry feedback stating this is why feminism is not truly about equality, and that pushing women’s agendas is taking away from mens’. I wholeheartedly disagree with this, but you cannot please everyone. Targeting specific markets, however, is completely normal. If I make and sell t-shirts and target women, it doesn’t mean that men do not wear them, cannot wear them, shouldn’t buy them, etc., it just means that my target market is women. Same goes for SheWillSurvive.com, but I truly hope that anyone who has been unfortunate enough to be impacted by abuse or violence will be able to find support here.

I completely agree! I look at this site as the first step towards my long-term goals.
In an ideal world, no one would rape or be raped, abuse or be abused, violate or be violated, but unfortunately this is not the world we live in today. There is so much that needs to change, and I, like many others, have lots of ideas on how we can educate people to eradicate abusive behaviour. But for now, I’d like to take one small step forward and help those who need it find support.
